1. Sulfate-free shampoos and conditioners
Look for the best suited shampoos and conditioners that are moisturizing and specially designed to combat frizzy hair. Products that contain natural oils such as argan oil, coconut oil or shea butter. Avoid shampoos with sulfates, as they can dry out the hair and worsen frizz (Our oncare ranges are with sulfates). Suggested Smooth series or try Alpha Keratin spray mask .
2. Use Wraps
Once a week, you can treat your hair to a deep-acting wrap or hair mask . These products penetrate deep into the hair strands and add necessary moisture and nourishment. You can also make your own wrap at home using ingredients like avocado, honey and olive oil.
3. Heating tool
Excessive use of heat tools such as flat irons, curling irons and blow dryers can damage hair and make it more prone to frizz. Try to air dry your hair whenever possible, and when using heat tools, be sure to use aheat protectant spray to reduce damage.
4. Rinse with cold water
After washing and conditioning your hair, finish with a quick cold water rinse. The cold water helps close the hair's cuticle, making the hair look smoother and shinier.
5. Don't wash your hair too often
Washing your hair every day can remove the natural oils that keep your hair moisturized and soft. Try to wash your hair every two or three days, or even less often if possible. Use a dry shampoo between washes to refresh hair and absorb excess oil.
6. Choose the right hairbrush
Use a wide-toothed comb or a natural bristle brush to detangle the hair. Avoid brushing your hair when it is wet, as this is when it is most sensitive and easier to damage. If you must detangle wet hair, do so gently with a wide-toothed comb.
7. Silk pillows and microfiber towels
Replace your cotton pillow with a silk pillow. Silk causes less friction against the hair during the night, reducing the risk of frizz and damage. Also use a microfiber towel to dry your hair after washing. Microfiber is gentler on the hair and absorbs water more effectively than regular towels.
8. Moisturizing styling products
Add moisturizing styling products to your hair care routine, such as leave-in conditioners , serums or hair oils . These products help lock in moisture and protect the hair against external factors such as humidity and heat.
9. Protect your hair from the weather
Exposure to sun, wind and rain can make hair frizzy. Protect your hair by wearing a hat or shawl when outdoors in extreme weather conditions. Also use UV protective products to protect your hair from the sun's harmful rays.
10. Regular hairdresser visits
Cutting your hair regularly will help keep it healthy and reduce frizz. Trimmed ends are less prone to split ends and frizz.
